Puttin' on the Spritz

The annual church jumble sale is this weekend and I've spent the past two days baking cookies. Raspberry Almond Spritz cookies to be exact. Six batches. Strangely enough, last batch looked just as yummy to me as the first batch from the oven. Aren't bakers supposed to become immune to the temptation when they smell goodies all day long?

The Bear took it upon himself to volunteer to help the men load all the heavy furniture and such into cars for the buyers. He went over there at 8:00 this morning and after a 40 minute lunch break, he announced that he was needed back at church because the only men who showed up to help were all retirees who had no business doing heavy lifting. I was very suprised. We don't belong to a "grey" church. Over 300 families, most of them our age attend regularly. It's a Saturday afternoon. Where were all the men? For that matter, Bear's youth group is so large it has a sub group just for the high school boys. Where were the teenagers? By the time Bear got home at 4:00 he was shattered. He spent an hour cooling off in the tub and he's been in bed ever since.

It's been a busy weekend for all of us. Spouse came home from work, showered and worked clean up/clear out crew at church from 3:00-5:00. Bunnie helped me at home with the marketing, cooking and cleaning. I believe we'll chuck all our plans for tomorrow, and just flop around at home. That should give me enough time to bake up some cookies for my hard working clan. After all, even the best of bakers must yield to temptation on occasion, yes?
